Sci-fi horror podcast The Callisto Protocol: Helix Station launches

The Callisto Protocol: Helix Station, a six-part sci-fi horror podcast starring Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, The Sandman, Star Wars episodes VII and VIII) is now available on all major podcast platforms. Godfrey Dadich Partners (GDP) produced the series in conjunction with Striking Distance Studios, creators of the highly anticipated video game The Callisto Protocol.

The core team members at Striking Distance Studios previously created an entirely new paradigm of immersive horror with the game Dead Space. The Callisto Protocol, which launches on December 2, offers an even more atmospheric and visceral experience.

The Callisto Protocol: Helix Station podcast is a prequel to the events in the new game. It’s set in the year 2320, and Gwendoline Christie portrays a skip tracer who is hunting down a dangerous escaped criminal on a derelict space station. In the process, she must confront murderous alien life forms, as well as unspeakable horrors from her past.

The first three episodes are available now, with new episodes launching weekly in November. You can listen here. (Headphones are highly recommended to get the most from the audio experience.)

“Telling great stories is at the heart of Godfrey Dadich’s approach, which we call The New Editorial—producing longform features, documentary films, websites, podcasts, and more,” says Robert Capps, GDP’s president of editorial. “But a sci-fi horror podcast like Helix Station is a first for our studio. We were delighted to work with the team at Striking Distance Studios on exploring and extending the rich universe that they crafted for their game.”

In addition to Christie, Helix Station stars Michael Ironside (Scanners, Top Gun, Starship Troopers), Kevin Durand (Lost, The Strain, Legion), Sam Littlefield (The Leftovers, Blackout, Batwoman), Cassandra Blair (Westworld, Better Things, Hacks), Leland Orser (Alien: Resurrection, Berlin Station, Ray Donovan), and Caitlin Kinnunen (The Intern, The Knick, American Vandal).

“We also brought together some of the best talents in fiction podcasting to create a fascinating yet horrifying world,” says Paula Chowles, GDP’s executive producer.

Helix Station was showrun and directed by Willie Block and Jake Emanuel of Breaking & Entering. Block and Emanuel created The Edge Of Sleep, the hit audio drama that has been downloaded over 7.5 million times and is being adapted as a TV series. They also wrote the upcoming film Reunion, a murder mystery comedy starring Lil Rel Howery.

The show was produced by Tess Ryan (The Left Right Game, From Now) and Gloria Bradbury (The Key, Unwanted), written by Gregory Thompson and Tex Gresham, and executive produced by Paula Chowles, Robert Capps, Willie Block, and Jake Emanuel. Sound design is by Samuel Plattner (A Wounded Fawn, Bad Vibes) and Pacific Standard Sound (Prey, Stranger Things), and the score was composed by Ryland Blackinton (My Best Friend’s Exorcism, Bad Vibes). The podcast is distributed in partnership with Stitcher Media and 1TWENTYFOUR, a division of IGN Entertainment, Inc.

Godfrey Dadich has charted consistent double-digit growth four years running and reported record revenue in 2021, fueled largely by its signature editorial work. Helix Station is its first fictional audio production.
