In his youth, Malik considered careers as a paleontologist, a samurai, and an arachnid-powered superhero. After realizing that being bit by a radioactive spider might not be as simple as he’d hoped, he set his sights on telling stories through writing. In fact, stories—and the memories that make them—are essential to Malik. He’s spent years collecting and saving old pictures for his family photo album; it’s his most prized possession. Beyond his role as a copywriter, Malik gets his kicks by running, rooting for Arnie in Predator, and dreaming about the day he can move to St. Thomas and make mango jam.
